the one with the wanting things to be over
i've had this strange realization lately about myself... i no longer look forward to things, i look forward to them being over. i used to have days when i would look forward to the next wedding, the next vacation, the next everything. i find myself wishing things to be over with thoughts of stress and anxiety floating around in my brain. when did i turn into such a worry wart? i think not looking forward to things makes me not enjoy them as much when they come. when something is approaching be it a wedding, a phone call, a vacation - i get this sickening feeling in my stomach that something will go horribly awry. and until it is finally over i feel a sense of relief not one of elation. i think i have this worry that i will let someone down and the feeling of defeat can knock me to the ground. i worry that the bride won't like her pictures, that i will forget some crucial detail, that i'll say the wrong thing, take someone on a trip and them not enjoy it, hurt someone, cause drama, pick the wrong house. oy - just thinking about it makes my head hurt. from now on i will try to look forward to all of the exciting things in my life instead of facing them with a heart of panic and dread.

the one with the trip to nashville
two weekends ago i assisted shooting a wedding outside of nashville at this amazing venue called front porch farms. it was by far the most charming venue i'm ever seen and every single details was planned out. LOVE IT!
of course i fell in love with matt's niece and nephew, emma and eli. i mean come on! how cute are these kiddos?!? they are both so smiley and sweet :)
on the way home we ran into more traveling issues. i65 - the only highway leading north - was shut down due to a hazardouse chemical truck spill. so our what should have been a 7 hour drive turned into 10 hours. ughhh. but yet again - we made the best of it!
i also managed to coax matt to come down with me since his sister lives a
mere 20 some minutes away from the venue. so not only did i get to go
down with matt but his mom came too! on the way down we got stuck behind a really bad accident out on a two lane country road. we were stopped for about 45 minutes but we tried to make the best of it trying to figure out what had happened!

emma and i spent lots of time playing in her room

the one with the hunger games : book 1
i finally received my copy of the hunger games by suzanne collins from the library after waiting 3 months... yes, i refuse to buy a book i likely won't read again when i can get it for free from the library! but it was worth the wait, it was exciting as everyone talked about and i read it in 2 days. i could have made it 1 but my head started hurting from so much reading on day one. it's fast moving book so i'm looking forward to seeing the movie soon although i have heard some mixed reviews on it. i'm hoping it is exciting as the book! i better get on the waiting list now for the next book so i can read all 3 by the end of this year ;)

the one with easter 2012
happy easter! i celebrated with my parents who had just returned from their 24 hour drive home from visit my grandparents in florida and matt's family. we started the day at matt's grandma's church where she plays the organ. she is so sweet. she plays with her shoes off :) then we headed to my parents for a little bit before they needed to take a nap being wiped out from their travels! then finished with dinner at matt's grandma's house. i got my mom some of my favorite flowers that are currently in season ( pictured above ) called ranunculus. they are such unique flowers that curl and squiggle in their stems. i also wove a basket ( pictured above ) out of a paper bag. it wasn't easy and took quite a bit of time but it turned out pretty neat! matt and i also colored easter eggs... can you tell which ones each of us made? :)

the one with the keeper of lost causes
i just finished reading a mystery book by jussi adler-olsen, the keeper of lost causes. it was interesting and i picked it up from the library to read purely for the fact that the cover looks just like the girl with the dragon tattoo series, specifically the girl who played with fire. it is also a series but i don't think i'm in the mood to continue with the next. it's an interesting read but took me a while to get into it and once i did, the climax wasn't as exciting as i thought it would be. after this, i think i've had my fill of mysteries for a while. i'm thinking on to love stories next :)

the one with the madness of march
ahh the madness of march. yes this also includes march madness as well as the general madness of this particular march. first off, i would say march this year has been the warmest march in ohio imaginable. we've maxed out some days at a whopping 87 degrees. that's so not normal. but i've been trying to soak up the rays and get excited for spring. the trees are in full bloom and so delightfully dreamy. not to mention the fact that i am in love with columbus in warm weather. people practically live outside and i love it. all outdoor seating? filled. runners? everywhere!
the other week, matt and i took a little road trip to cincinnati with his parents and sister to see a new exhibit at the cincinnati museum center - union terminal. the exhibit was on a day in pompeii. while much of the exhibit was a disappointment to myself, the body casts at the end were worth it. after wandering around virtual pompeii videos and the 20 jugs, we finally made it to what i thought the entire exhibit would be filled with. for those who don't know about pompeii, they call it a city frozen in time. it was so startling to think of all of these people frozen in the exact spot where they suffocated on the volcanic ash. another interesting fact learned from this trip - they didn't have our modern day bleach so to keep their robes clean and bright, they washed them in urine. yuck!
i decided when i moved to columbus i wanted to volunteer somewhere since i would have a bit more free time not working in the studio every day. after exhausting all ideas i finally thought, ding ding ding - COSI! i will be volunteering occasionally in the littlekid space. yea, i totally get to hang out with kindergarteners and younger teaching them science, i'm pretty pumped :) matt and i had fun visiting the other day and remembering everything we loved about COSI as a kid.
i am sad to say that my sweet ohio bobcats are no longer in the ncaa tournament but they played their hearts out and made it all the way to the sweet 16 after loosing a tough battle to university of north carolina. but matt's ohio state buckeyes are still in it and fighting strong.
